The tablet’s power button (a) is located on the right side of the tablet. Press and release the button to power on the tablet. To ensure the tablet is properly turned off, always use the virtual Shut Down button from the login screen within the Touchscreen application. To conserve battery power while the tablet is on, press and release the power button to put the tablet into Standby Mode.
Two LED indicators will appear on the upper left side of the tablet’s touchscreen when powered on. The battery indicator (b) will change color and/or blink depending on the parameters below:
Below the battery indicator, the blue wireless connection indicator (c) will appear if the tablet is connected to a wireless network.
The magnetic stripe card reader (d) is located at the top of the tablet. This card reader is used for gift cards or employee/customer identification cards; it is not a credit card reader. When swiping a card, place the magnetic strip towards the tablet’s touch screen.
The serial number tag (e) is located on the back of the tablet behind the external battery. See instructions below on removing the external battery. The serial number tag is labelled S/N.
*NOTE: For clarity, the rubber hand grip has been removed in the image below.
The external battery (f) on the back of the tablet can be removed and quickly swapped with a charged replacement if one is available.
*NOTE: For clarity, the rubber hand grip has been removed in the images below. This is not required. Batteries can be removed and attached with this hand grip in place.
To remove the external battery, press in the upper lock buttons (g) on either side of the battery. Pull the battery down and away from the tablet.
To attach the external battery, gently insert the bottom battery tabs (h) into the tab slots (i) on the back of the tablet. Carefully press forward until the battery clicks into place.
The best way to keep a DT Research tablet charged is by placing it on a charging dock (j) when not in use. The dock must be plugged into a power outlet to charge the tablet. When docking the tablet, align the dock’s 9-pin connector (k) with the corresponding charging port (l) underneath the tablet. Two metal prongs on either side of the connector will help guide the tablet down onto the dock. Pushing or forcing the tablet could damage the pins which may prevent charging.
*NOTE: If the tablet is correctly docked, its blue battery indicator light will blink as it charges.
Several ports are accessible on the back of the charging dock. The two USB ports (m) may be needed for tablet re-imaging or to resolve FullCount support questions. A third tablet USB port (n) is located on the left side of the tablet itself. (See image above.) This port can be used for attaching other point-of-sale devices (such as a barcode scanner or fob reader).
*NOTE: The tablet must be mounted to utilize the charging dock’s USB ports.
An Ethernet port (o) is located beside the two USB ports on the back of the charging dock. When docked, a DT Research tablet can reach the FullCount server through this hardwired connection. Even if your community’s wireless network goes down, you can still use the tablet on a wired network through the charging dock.
There are two LED lights on the Ethernet port. The orange link light (p) on the left indicates that the dock has a connection to a wired network. The green activity light (q) on the right blinks to indicate that data is being processed.
The DC power adapter (r) can be used for
charging the external battery either through the docking station or
through the tablet directly. To charge via the charging dock, plug the
adapter into the dock power port (s) on the back of the dock. To charge directly via the tablet, plug the adapter into the tablet power port (t) on the right side of the tablet.
