This article will discuss the features of the POS-X Ion point-of-sale tablet.
The POS-X Ion’s power button (a) is located on top of the tablet to the left. To turn on the tablet, press and hold the power button for 7-8 seconds. To ensure the tablet is properly turned off, always use the virtual Shut Down button from the login screen within the Touchscreen application. The red LED indicator (b) will remain lit while the tablet is on. If the tablet is turned off and charging, the indicator will blink.
To see the tablet’s current charge level, press the battery (–) status button (c) on top of the tablet. A window will appear on the touch screen displaying the battery charge percentage. This window may not appear if the tablet is fully charged. The network (+) button (d) will change the tablet from its assigned wireless network to a wired Ethernet network through the charging dock. When pressed, the user will be prompted to confirm the network change. If the tablet is switched to the wired network when undocked, the tablet will disconnect from the FullCount server.
*NOTE: Do not hold down the network or battery status buttons. Holding down the buttons may affect the dialogue displays.
Left of power button, the scanner button (e) activates the barcode scanner (f)
on top of the tablet. To scan a barcode, hold the scanner button and
angle the red scanner light towards the item’s barcode. The tablet will
beep when the barcode has been read.
On the back of the tablet, the hand strap (g)
offers security and comfort while holding the device. The two ends of
the strap can be unscrewed, adjusted, and refastened for the desired
grip.
The serial number tag (h) can be found below the hand strap on the back side of the tablet. The serial number is labelled S/N.
Place the POS-X Ion tablet on a charging dock (i)
to use a wired Ethernet connection or charge when not in use. The dock
must be plugged into a power outlet to charge the tablet; the blue dock light (j) will illuminate when the dock is connected to a power source. When docking the tablet, align the tablet’s underside charge port (k) above the docking connector (l). Two black prongs on either side of the connector will help guide the tablet onto the dock.
Several ports are accessible on the back of the charging dock. The three USB ports (m) may be needed for tablet re-imaging or to resolve FullCount support questions. A fourth tablet USB port (n) is located on the left side of the tablet itself. This port can be used for attaching other point-of-sale devices (such as a fob reader).
*NOTE: The tablet must be mounted to utilize the charging dock’s USB ports.
An Ethernet port (o) is located next to the back USB ports. When docked, a POS-X Ion tablet can reach the FullCount server through this hardwired connection. Even if your community’s wireless network goes down, you can still use the tablet on a wired network through the charging dock. (See note d above on switching the tablet to a wired connection.)
There are two LED lights on the Ethernet port. The orange link light (p) on the left indicates that the dock has a connection to a wired network. The green activity light (q) on the right blinks to indicate that data is being processed.
The DC power adapter (r) can be used for
charging the external battery either through the docking station or
through the tablet directly. To charge via the charging dock, plug the
adapter into the dock power port (s) on the back of the dock. To charge directly via the tablet, plug the adapter into the tablet power port (t) on the left side of the tablet.
