The DLI’s power button (a) is located on top of the tablet to the right. To turn on the tablet, press the power button for 2-3 seconds. To ensure the tablet is properly turned off, always use the virtual Shut Down button from the login screen within the Touchscreen application.
When the tablet is charging, the LED battery indicator (b) will always appear as a solid green light. When the tablet is not charging, the indicator may blink to display the battery’s charge level. To see the charge level while the tablet is charging, press and hold the battery status button (c) on top of the tablet. The LED colors correspond to the following percentages:
Below the touch screen are four mode buttons, though only two are utilized by the FullCount system. The left-most network button (d) will change the device from its assigned wireless network to a wired Ethernet network through the charging dock. When pressed, the user will be prompted to confirm the network change. If the tablet is switched to the wired network when undocked, the tablet will disconnect from the FullCount server. The right-most sleep button (e) places the tablet into Sleep Mode to conserve battery power while the tablet is on but not in use. The battery indicator will always blink green when the tablet is in Sleep Mode. The same button can then be pressed to awaken the device.
*NOTE: If your DLI tablet mode
buttons do not function as described above, you may need to update your
device to the newest software image. Contact FullCount Support at 800-289-9636 or Support@FullCount.net for more information.
The magnetic stripe card reader (f) is located on the top of the tablet. This card reader is used for gift cards or employee/customer identification cards; it is not a credit card reader. When swiping a card, place the magnetic strip towards the tablet’s touch screen.
The serial number tag (g)
is located in one of two locations on the back of the tablet. On older
models, the silver tag can be found in the upper-right corner, partially
hidden under the hand strap. On newer models, the serial number tag in
underneath the swappable battery. (See instructions below on removing the battery.) The serial number tag is labelled S/N.
Two hand straps (h) on the
back of the tablet offer security and comfort. The Velcro straps can be
adjusted to ensure the best grip for each user. A provided stylus (i)
can be used on the touch screen in place of direct, physical contact.
Each hand strap contains a band in which to store the stylus.
The swappable battery (j) on the back of the tablet can be removed and quickly switched with a charged replacement. Each battery has an LED charge indicator (k) in the upper-right corner. Press the battery icon to see the current power level on the light bar to the left.
Before swapping a battery while the device is still on, always put the tablet into Sleep Mode using the sleep button. (See note e above.) Once the tablet is asleep, slide the battery release latch (l) to the left and lift out using the two grips to either side of the latch.
To insert a new battery, align the upper right-hand battery connector (m) with the corresponding the port within the tablet’s battery bay. Slide the release latch to the left and gently lower the swappable battery until it is level with the tablet casing. Let go of the latch and ensure the battery is secure.
*NOTE: The plastic fastening
tabs around the top and bottom edges of the battery are fragile. Rough
handling can cause them to snap off. If this happens, the tablet may not
securely hold in the battery without aid.
If the tablet is on, press the sleep button to awaken the tablet from Sleep Mode.
Place the DLI Rugged tablet on a charging dock (n)
to use a wired Ethernet connection or charge when not in use. The dock
must be plugged into a power outlet to charge the tablet. When docking
the tablet, angle the tablet’s underside charging port (o) above the charging dock’s dual connectors (p).
Two black prongs on either side of these connectors will help guide the
tablet onto the dock. Firmly press the top of the tablet backward,
sliding it under the dock’s quick release arms (q). To undock, firmly lift up on the release arms, pull the tablet forward, and lift it off of the charging dock.
Most FullCount DLI charging docks come equipped with a bottom battery charger (r) and an additional battery. To charge a swappable battery, insert it into the charger slot with the battery connector facing the back-right corner. Two LED charging indicators (s) appear on the right side of the charger. The top green indicator confirms that the charger is connected to the dock. The bottom indicator will blink red when a battery is inserted and charging.
Once the battery is fully charged, the bottom LED light will turn green.
Several ports are accessible on the charging dock. The two back USB ports (t) or a third side USB port (u) may be needed for tablet re-imaging or to resolve FullCount support questions. A fourth tablet USB port (v) is located on the right side of the tablet itself. This port can be used for attaching other point-of-sale devices (such as a barcode scanner or fob reader).
*NOTE: The tablet must be mounted to utilize the charging dock’s USB ports.
An Ethernet port (w) is
located beside the two back USB ports. When docked, a DLI Rugged tablet
can reach the FullCount server through this hardwired connection. Even
if your community’s wireless network goes down, you can still use the
tablet on a wired network through the charging dock. (See note d above on switching the tablet to a wired connection.)
The DC power adapter (x) can be used for
charging the tablet either through the docking station or through the
tablet directly. Since most FullCount docks are equipped with a battery
charger, the charger is daisy-chained into the dock power port (y). In this case, the power adapter will be plugged into the charger power port (z). To charge the tablet directly, plug the adapter into the tablet power port (a) on the right side of the tablet.
