Add a Kitchen Printer

When a new Kitchen Requisition Printers is purchased or a printer’s IP address is changed, the printer must be added/updated in the Back Office. In FullCount, requisition printers include not only physical, network printers but also kitchen display systems.




Add a Kitchen Printer

Whether adding a new network printer or kitchen display system, either device will be set up from the Printers subtab in the Back Office. To reach this location, follow the steps below:

  1. Select the Admin Center button.
     
  2. Select the Printers tab.
     
  3. If not selected by default, choose the Printers subtab.
     
  4. Click New Printer.
     


 

The following sections detail the steps for setting up either a network printer or a kitchen display system.
 

Network Printer

To set up a new physical network printer:

*NOTE: All fields with an asterisk (*) are required.

  1. Set the Printer Type to Network.
     
  2. Enter the following information fields:
  • Printer* – Enter a description for the new printer.
  • IP Address – Enter the IP address that has already been assigned to this printer.

*NOTE: Filling in the IP Address field does not assign the IP to the physical device. To assign an IP address to a printer, see the instructions HERE.
 


 

  1. Click Save and Close.

The new printer is now added but must be Assigned in a Department.
 

Kitchen Display

To set up a new kitchen display system:

*NOTE: All fields with an asterisk (*) are required.

  1. Set the Printer Type to Display.
     
  2. Enter the following information fields:
  • Printer* – Enter a description for the new printer.
  • KDS Terminal Serial Number – Enter the serial number listed on the CPU device. The serial number should begin with “KQ”.
  1. Set the following settings for the new kitchen display:
  • Check For New Tickets How Often?* – Choose a time (in seconds) that the system will refresh to display new orders. The suggested time is 15 seconds.
  • Display Ticket as Past Due* – Choose how long (in minutes) before an order ticket turns orange, indicating it is past due. The suggested time is 5 minutes.
  • Display Ticket as Late – Choose how long (in minutes) before an order ticket turns red, indicating it is late.
  • Kitchen Display Bump Printer Group – If the order should print a physical ticket after it has been bumped from the display, choose a printer group from the drop-down options. Tickets will printer from all network printers assigned to this printer group for that department.
     


 

  1. Click Save and Close.

The new kitchen display is now added but must be Assigned in a Department.

 

Update a Kitchen Printer

If a community changes its network settings or an IP address is swapped, the printer(s) will need to be updated in the Back Office to match the change. To update a kitchen printer, follow the steps below:

*NOTE: Filling in the IP Address field does not assign the IP to the physical device. To configure an IP address on a printer, see the instructions HERE.

  1. Select the Admin Center button.
     
  2. Select the Printers tab.
     
  3. If not selected by default, choose the Printers subtab.
     
  4. Find the printer to be updated, then enter the new IP Address in the corresponding row.

*NOTE: Repeat step 4 for any additional printers.
 


 

  1. Click the Save button in the upper left-hand corner of the table.

The printer IP address is now updated. No settings need to be changed in the departments; requisitions will print to the printer’s new IP address using the previously assigned printer group logic.
