Modify a Menu

Modify a Menu

Many communities change their dining options or expand their menu for the convenience of their residents. As this happens, FullCount menus must be modified in the Back Office to reflect these changes.

*NOTE: If you need to create a brand-new menu, see the instructions HERE.

Find a Menu to Modify

The first part of modifying a menu is locating the menu that will be changed. These first few steps will be the same for all modifications. To find a menu:

  1. Select the Admin Center button.

  2. Select the Item Management tab.

  3. Choose the Menus subtab.

  4. Search for the desired menu and click the Details button to the left of this menu.

Add an Item to a Menu

After finding the menu (see steps 1-4 above), follow the steps below to add an item:

*NOTE: An item must be created before it can be added to a menu. Click HERE for instructions on creating an item.

  1. Under the Menu Items Linked to Menu section, click the Add button.

  2. Search for and select an Item to add to the menu.

  3. Choose the Sort Order for the item.

  4. Enter an Effective Start Date for the item. This will default to today’s date.

*NOTE: Adding an Effective End Date will remove the item from the menu after the entered date. In most circumstances, an effective end date will not be entered for a new item.

  1. If your community offers the feature, choose whether this item can be purchased through Online Ordering.

*NOTE: Online Ordering is an optional, paid feature that requires an additional FullCount license. To learn more about Online Ordering, please contact FullCount Support at (800) 289-9636 or email us at Support@FullCount.net.

*NOTE: Repeat steps 5-9 to add any additional items.

  1. Click Save and Close.

The item(s) is now added to the menu. If the menu is assigned to a department, the item will appear on the Touchscreen.

Swap an Item on a Menu

If a menu change merely requires replacing one item with another, then the quickest option is to swap the items. After finding the menu (see steps 1-4 above), follow the steps below to swap an item:

*NOTE: An item must be created before it can be added to a menu. Click HERE for instructions on creating an item.

  1. Locate and highlight the current item.

  2. Type the name of the new item over the old one, and select it from the search options.

  3. If necessary, update the following fields for the new item:
  • Sort Order – Choose a Sort Order for this swapped item.
  • Effective Start Date – Postdate this item if it should appear on the Touchscreen at a later date. Leave the current effective start date if the item should appear immediately.

*NOTE: Adding an Effective End Date will remove the item from the menu after the entered date. In most circumstances, an effective end date will not be entered for a new item.

If your community has purchased the Online Ordering module, an additional field will appear.

  • Online Ordering Enabled – Choose whether this item can be selected through Online Ordering.

*NOTE: Repeat steps 5-7 for any additional item changes.

  1. Click Save and Close.

The new item will replace of the old item on the updated menu beginning on the selected effective start date.

Add a Child Menu

A menu can be assigned to a separate menu. The assigned child menu will appear as a sub-menu option on the Touchscreen. After finding the menu (see steps 1-4 above), follow the steps below to add a child menu:

  1. Under the Child Menus Linked to Menu section, click the Add button.

  2. Select a menu from the Sub Menu drop-down options.

  3. Choose a Sort Order for the child menu.

  4. Enter an Effective Start Date for the child menu. This will default to today’s date.

*NOTE: Adding an Effective End Date will remove the child menu after the entered date. In most circumstances, an effective end date will not be entered for a new child menu.
